I want to read all of them, but especially simile and metaphor in hip hop. Btw, how ’bout your Browns?!

The Browns game was ridiculous. And Carson Palmer is my FF quarterback and gave me 50 points (while still managing to lose). So best of both worlds.

Fantasy Football - D&D For Jocks.
“Rivalry” was the post title that raise my eyebrows. When did you become competitive?

This has nothing to do with this post, but I’ve got three things for you: 1) Why haven’t you seen 3:10 to Yuma yet? 2) Who are these people who actually have time to cook things for breakfast? and 3) Why doesn’t that photographer know any couples who aren’t dirty white hipsters?

In my mind, these all became a single rant by a jaded college student who just discovered “brutal honesty” or “objectivism.” To wit:
Why should I follow the example of others who perpetuate small kindnesses? Do I have some sense of internal competition (a rivalry with myself? or my better self?) What’s the point of that? To most of these people I extend myself to, any gesture will be forgotten as soon as I’m gone. How many small kindnesses have I forgotten? These acts are out of my mind as soon as these people are out of my sight. I could posture and pose, like some preening hip hop artist (those purveyors of bad poetry who have lost the art of the extended metaphor and instead build simplistic and insipid similes as shrines to themselves). Everyone does this to some extent - putting on the airs of a better self to make their way in the world of strangers easier. But then I’d feel like I’d sold out - become one of a million blank faced penguins waddling through life. I’d stop feeling the need to shout a angry disclaimer - “the person you’re interacting with is a front - his behavior is in no way a promise of similar behavior in the future.” Look - I know I you’ve heard me say this a thousand times before like some broken record, but I’ll say it a million times more; I’ll become a broken record store. Because I’ve come to believe that the pursuit of self-interest is an immutable fact – like time. It is. It was. It will be. This part of our genetic make-up and won’t ever change. It’s what lets us survive. At least for us white folks.
Please post some of these drafts so I can get this horrible person out of my head…
p.s. - I wish I was in Cleveland to listen to folks claim that Derek Anderson is now Brett Favre. It’s like Kelly Holcolmb after that shootout loss to Pittsburgh a few years ago.
